Immigration Filing Fees Are Going Up This December

If you have been procrastinating on sending out an immigration application for yourself or your loved ones, the latest announcement by USCIS regarding the fee raises may have you rushing to get it out before the end of the year. Because starting on December 23, 2016 many of the immigration filing fees will go up. For example, Form I-485 an Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status will go from $985 to $1140 -- a considerable change. The fee increases are significant especially for many undocumented individuals struggling to survive on less than minimum wage pay. It is our hope that this change will not prevent too many individuals from applying for immigration benefits, which they are otherwise eligible for.
