Did ICE Really Endorse Donald Trump?

During yesterday’s vice-presidential debate between Senator Tim Kaine of Virginia and Gov. Mike Pence of Indiana, the following exchange took place:

PENCE: Yeah.

KAINE: When Donald Trump says women should be punished or Mexicans are rapists and criminals...

PENCE: I'm telling you...

KAINE: ... or John McCain is not a hero, he is showing you who he is.

PENCE: Senator, you've whipped out that Mexican thing again. He -- look...

KAINE: Can you defend it?

PENCE: There are criminal aliens in this country, Tim, who have come into this country illegally who are perpetrating violence and taking American lives.

KAINE: You want to -- you want to use a big broad brush against Mexicans on that?

PENCE: He also said and many of them are good people. You keep leaving that out of your quote. And if you want me to go there, I'll go there.

And the internet seized and ran with #ThatMexicanThing:

It is not a surprise that the statement struck a chord with Latinos and non-Latinos alike. As election day approaches I get to learn from my clients about the anxieties within the immigrant community about their future in the the United States should Donald Trump get elected into office.

Who can blame them given that Mr. Trump has referred to people of Mexican decent as rapists and criminals. In his first presidential debate with Secretary Clinton he has claimed that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency in charge of rounding up and deporting individuals from the United States has endorsed him for a president. The ICE agency has not endorsed Mr. Trump, but the union of ICE offers has. So did the union of Border Patrol agents. That is enough to get any attorney representing hard working immigrant community of New York uneasy.
